Sophie Spencer is a lens-based artist in her final year of her Bachelor of Arts undergraduate degree. Her art experiments different ways of storytelling through visual and written methods.
Based in Te Whanganui-a-Tara, her work captures the beauty in the mundane and the nuance within it. With Salient she works alongside writers capturing student life to pair visual work to their writing.
Salient is published by, but remains editorially independent from, the Victoria University of Wellington Students Association (VUWSA). Salient is funded in part by VUWSA through the Student Services Levy. Salient is a member of the Aotearoa Student Press Association (ASPA).
