Unemployed?
By | 16 Oct, 2006
Student Job Search (SJS) outlets across the country are crying for students to enrol to find summer work, with the jobs reportedly “rolling in”.
SJS is a free service funded partly by student associations, that helps students find jobs, especially over the povertystricken summer months.
Last summer students earned an unprecedented $53 million through SJS jobs. This year, there is an average national pay-rate of $12.90 an hour.
SJS Chair and National Union of Students Associations Co-President Conor Roberts says “in addition to the traditional jobs we attract, Student JobSearch is also attracting a lot of skilled and course-related work, so people can get ahead in their field of study. That work could give students the edge they need when they finish studying.”
Wellington SJS Regional Manager says that there is already $8 million worth of vacancies for students in the Wellington region, with over $1 million of that at a pay rate of $14.50 and above.
Students can now enrol online at www. sjs.co.nz
