New Chief Executive for TEC
By | 12 May, 2008
The appointment of Canterbury University Vice-Chancellor Professor Roy Sharp as the new Chief Executive of the Tertiary Education Commission was announced last week and is seen as a positive move by New Zealand’s universities.
New Zealand Vice-Chancellors’ Committee chair Professor Roger Field says that it is great to have someone at the head of the commission who understands the contribution universities make to society.
“My fellow Vice-Chancellors look forward to Professor Sharp making a difference when it comes to the appropriate recognition of universities’ role as the principal providers of research in this country and the educators of the professional workforce.”
Professor Sharp himself chaired the Vice- Chancellors’ Committee last year and in 2006, and is currently the deputy chair.
