American Supreme Court judge visiting Victoria

Former American Supreme Court judge, Sandra Day O’Connor, will be giving a public lecture at the University’s Pipitea campus this Wednesday evening.
O’Connor, who attended Stanford University, was nominated as an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court by Ronald Reagan during his presidency in 1981. She retired from the role in 2006.
Currently the Chancellor of the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, O’Connor’s lecture is titled ‘Guantanamo Bay: Legal Black Hole.’
The free lecture will be given on Wednesday, 23 July at Rutherford House, 23 Lambton Quay (northern end), commencing at 5:30pm.
