Salient this year is a joke. Pecking Order for me is undoubtebly one of the most original things this year. Probably one of the only things in the magazine that is at all fun to read. I often wonder to myself, does Mr. Nicoll even read what goes in? And what the hell is he doing giving Nick Archer the free reign to spew forth his semi-cogent filth? Good call on the Investigate-light thing. You can cover all the wacky, zany issues you want - but when the writing and research isn’t there, and the magazine is poorly organised and designed who gives a flying rats ass?
I guess I’m just mad. I’ve liked every year of Salient in the 7 or so I’ve seen. Except this one. How many media studies columns can we tolerate? Gag.
And who’s noticed how badly censored the letters pages are now?
