Cricket Excuses

Muttiah Muralitharan defends his dodgy bowling action by saying he has some sort of ill-defined genetic elbow defect which simply makes it look like he is throwing the ball all the time.

I don’t really accept that. If his elbow is so bad he can’t bowl legally then he shouldn’t be allowed to bowl at all – simple.

Imagine if I went to the cricket authorities and I said I had a specific genetic condition called poor eyesight, slow reflexes and no hand-eye co-ordination so I should get a bigger bat, smaller stumps and all the bowlers should have to bowl slower to me.

I’d be laughed out of the game. Just like Murali should.

Thunderbirds the Movie

Someone must have said “I love the original Thunderbirds puppet series so let’s make the movie live action, turn all the characters into kids, invent a new baddy, change the music, write a crappy story and add in a love interest. Perfect!”

That person must be found and killed.

And now the bleeding obvious

While we may never reach the giddying lows of the newspaper which had the headline “Plane close to ground before crash”, some of our news reporting does state the blindingly obvious.

Here is a personal favorite: “Man who sexually assaulted rabbits had psychological issues.”

How they didn’t get a Pulitzer Prize for that insight I will never know.
