To farewell the Salient music pages for 2008 we were planning a tedious 2008-Musicin- Review piece for our final edition, but deciding that is a) lame and b) boring we decided to look over our favourite albums released over the year. Realising that there actually weren’t enough from 2008, we extended the list to our favourite albums in recent years, but not before 2006. Here’s what we came up with in a rough order of preference (it’s way better than the Film list):

1. Radiohead - In Rainbows
2. LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver
3. Portishead - Third
4. MIA - Kala
5. Thom Yorke - The Eraser
6. Sigur Ros - Með Suð í Eyrum Við Spilum Endalaust
7. The Shins - Wincing the Night Away
8. Daft Punk - Alive 2007
9. Placebo - Meds
10. Arcade Fire - Neon Bible (although Funeral is waaay better)
11. Les Savy Fav - Let’s Be Friends
12. Little Bushman - Pendulum
13. Wolf Parade - At Mount Zoomer
14. Grayson Gilmour - You Sleep We Creep
15. Interpol - Our Love to Admire
16. High Dependency Unit - Metamathics
17. Tomahawk - Anonymous
18. So So Modern - Friendly Fires
19. Blood Brothers - Young Machetes
20. The Deftones - Saturday Night Wrist

Salient

Salient is a magazine. Salient is a website. Salient is an institution founded in 1938 to cater to the whim and fancy of students of Victoria University. We are partly funded by VUWSA and partly by gold bullion that was discovered under a pile of old Salients from the 40's. Salient welcomes your participation in debate on all the issues that we present to you, and if you're a student of Victoria University then you're more than welcome to drop in and have tea and scones with the contributors of this little rag in our little hideaway that overlooks Wellington.
